The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 8(7) and 24(1) of the Private Security Industry Act 2001(1).

In accordance with section 24(4) of that Act the Secretary of State has consulted the Scottish Ministers, the Department of Justice in Northern Ireland and the Security Industry Authority.

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Licences) (Amendment) Regulations 2019 and come into force on 1st October 2019.

Amendments to the Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Licences) Regulations 2007

2.—(1) The Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Licences) Regulations 2007(2) are amended as follows.

(2) In regulation 8(1) (fee to be paid on application for licence)(3) for “£220” substitute “£210”.

(3) In regulation 9 (transitional provision)(4) for “1st January 2012”, substitute “1st October 2019”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

The Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Licences) (Amendment) Regulations 2019 amend regulations 8(1) and 9 of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 (Licences) Regulations 2007.

The first amendment substitutes a fee of £210 for the previous fee of £220 for an application for a licence. The second amendment provides that the fee in regulation 8(1) applies to any application for a licence received by the Security Industry Authority on or after 1st October 2019.

Asesiadau Effaith

Impact Assessments generally accompany all UK Government interventions of a regulatory nature that affect the private sector, civil society organisations and public services. They apply regardless of whether the regulation originates from a domestic or international source and can accompany primary (Acts etc) and secondary legislation (SIs). An Impact Assessment allows those with an interest in the policy area to understand:

  • Why the government is proposing to intervene;
  • The main options the government is considering, and which one is preferred;
  • How and to what extent new policies may impact on them; and,
  • The estimated costs and benefits of proposed measures.
