The Secretary of State, in exercise of his powers under sections 51(2), 69 and 266 of the Local Government Act 1972(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, having complied with the procedures laid down in section 69(2) and (3) of that Act, hereby makes the following Order, which varies supplementary provisions contained in the Greater London and Surrey (County and London Borough Boundaries) Order 1994(2), an order made by him pursuant to his powers under sections 51(2) and 67(4) of the Act on 15th February 1994:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Greater London and Surrey (County and London Borough Boundaries) (Variation) Order 1995, and shall come into force on 1st April 1995.

Variation in respect of the Metropolitan Police District

2.—(1) The Greater London and Surrey (County and London Borough Boundaries) Order 1994 is varied as provided in paragraphs (2) and (3).

(2) In articles 3(1) and (2), 4(1) and 6(1) the words “shall cease to form part of the Metropolitan Police District and” are omitted.

(3) In articles 3(3), 4(2) and 6(2) and (3)—

(a) after sub–paragraph (c) the words “and to” are inserted;

(b) sub–paragraph (e), and the words “and to” immediately before that sub– paragraph, are omitted.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order corrects defects in the Greater London and Surrey (County and London Borough Boundaries) Order 1994 (S.I. 1994/331). That Order purported to transfer to the Metropolitan Police District areas already in that District, and wrongly provided that certain areas should cease to be in the Metropolitan Police District.

1972 c. 70. Sections 46 to 52 inclusive were repealed by the Local Government Act 1992 (c. 19) but are continued in effect by section 24(3) of the 1992 Act where any report or proposals were submitted by the Commission to the Secretary of State under Part IV of the 1972 Act before 31st October 1992.
