(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Education (Individual Pupils' Achievements) (Information) (Wales) Regulations 1997 so as to remove provisions relating to tests known as “standard task assessments” — see regulation 2(1) — (3), (5) — (6) and (8). Those tests used to be administered to 7 year old pupils at the end of Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum, but were abolished with effect from 2002 — see the Education (National Curriculum) (Assessment Arrangements for English, Welsh, Mathematics and Science) (Key Stage 1) (Wales) Order 2002 (S.I. 2002/45 (W.4)). They also remove a reference to grant-maintained and grant-maintained special schools (which no longer exist) and substitute for a reference to “the Welsh Office” a reference to “the National Assembly for Wales” — see regulations 2(4) and (7).
1996 c. 56. Section 408 is amended by paragraph 30(a) of Schedule 7 to the Education Act 1997 (c. 44) and by paragraph 106 of Schedule 30 to the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 (c. 31); and is amended by paragraph 57 of Schedule 9 to the Learning and Skills Act 2000 (c. 21). For the meaning of “regulations” and “prescribed” see section 579(1) of the Education Act 1996.
See the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Functions) Order 1999 (S.I. 1999/672).
S.I. 1997/573, as amended by S.I. 1997/2709, S.I. 1998/2705, S.I. 1999/1497 and S.I. 2001/890 (W.41).
