The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 127(10) of the Transport Act 2000(1) hereby makes the following Order:
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Transport Act 2000 (Commencement of Quality Contracts Schemes) (England) Order 2005 and shall come into force on 1st March 2005.
2. Section 127(2)(b) of the Transport Act 2000 is varied so that, as respects quality contracts schemes relating to areas wholly in England, the reference to 21 months is a reference to 6 months.
Signed by authority of the Secretary of State
Charlotte Atkins
Parliamentary Under Secretary of State
Department for Transport
19th January 2005
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order varies the application of section 127(2)(b) of the Transport Act 2000 in so far as it applies to England. Section 127(2)(b) requires a quality contracts scheme to specify the date that it comes into operation. This date must not be earlier than 21 months after the date that the quality contracts scheme is made. Where the area of the scheme is wholly in England, this Order reduces the minimum period between the date of making the scheme and the date that the scheme comes into operation to 6 months.
