The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 10(1), 52(1)(a) and 60 of the Public Passenger Vehicles Act 1981(1) and the Department of Transport (Fees) Order 1988(2), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 61(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Public Service Vehicles (Conditions of Fitness, Equipment, Use and Certification) (Amendment) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 3rd March 1997.

2.—(1) The Public Service Vehicles (Conditions of Fitness, Equipment, Use and Certification) Regulations 1981(3) shall be amended as follows.

(2) In the regulations specified in column (1) of the Table below for the amounts specified in column (2) of the Table there shall be substituted the amounts specified in column (3) of the Table.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Public Service Vehicles (Conditions of Fitness, Equipment, Use and Certification) Regulations 1981 as follows.

(a)The fee payable for a certificate of initial fitness is reduced from £129.00 to £124.00, both on the first application, and on any subsequent application when the test which that application will require includes a test of stability under regulation 6. The fee payable for the certificate on any other subsequent application is reduced from £15.40 to £15.00.

(b)The fees payable for type approvals are reduced from £744.70, £69.90, £368.60 and £1592.30 to respectively £715.00, £67.00, £354.00 and £1530.00.

(c)The fee payable for a duplicate certificate is reduced from £8.80 to £8.00.
