The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 55(1) of, and by paragraph 1 of Schedule 4 to, the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Licensed Betting Offices (Amendment) Scotland Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 1st April 1993.
(2) These Regulations shall extend to Scotland only.
2. The Licensed Betting Offices (Scotland) Regulations 1986(2) shall be amended by substituting for regulation 6 the following regulation:
“6—(1) A licensed betting office shall be closed from 10pm each day in April, May, June, July and August until 7am the following day.
(2) A licensed betting office shall be closed from 6.30pm each day in any other month until 7am the following day.”.

These Regulations amend the Licensed Betting Offices (Scotland) Regulations 1986 by providing that a licensed betting office must be closed from 10pm until 7.00am the next day during April to August. For the rest of the year, such an office must be closed from 6.30pm until 7.00am the next day, as was previously the case throughout the year. These restrictions on opening are additional to those provided by paragraph 1 of Schedule 4 to the Betting Gaming and Lotteries Act 1963.
