THE LORD MAYOR AND CITIZENS OF THE CITY OF WESTMINSTER (hereinafterreferred to as“The Corporation”) make this Scheme in exercise of their powers under Section 106 ofthe Highways Act 1980 and of all other enabling powers:—
(1) The Corporation are authorised to construct over the navigablewaters of the Grand Union Canal the bridge specified in the Schedule tothis Scheme as part of the Highway Improvement which they are proposingin the vicinity of the junction of Ladbroke Grove, Harrow Road, KilburnLane and St John’s Terrace, in the City of Westminster.
(2) This Scheme may be cited as the City of Westminster (LadbrokeGrove Canal Bridge Widening and Harrow Road Junction Improvement) Scheme1988. Given under the Common Seal of the Lord Mayor and Citizens of theCity of Westminster the 12th day of February 1988.
The bridge is located on the border of the City of Westminster and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea at Ladbroke Grove and crosses theGrand Union Canal. It will be on the same site as the existing bridgewhich carries Ladbroke Grove over the Grand Union Canal but will bewidened by 3.85 metres. (Existing bridge 13.55 metres; new bridge 17.4metres overall).
Width: | The overall width of the bridge is 17.4 metres. |
Span: | A span of at least 21.00 metres will be provided. |
Headway: | A minimum headway of 2.55 metres will be provided above the whole expanse of the navigable water. |
Waterway: | Waterway to be crossed is the Grand Union Canal. |
Diversion of Watercourse: | There will be no diversion of any water course. |
Diversion of Towpath: | There will be no diversion of any towpath. |
