The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 10(3) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1986(1) (“the Act”), hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Sex Discrimination Act 1986 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1988.
2. Section 7 of, and Part III of the Schedule to, the Act shall come into force to the extent that they are not already in force, on 26th February 1988.

This Order brings into force on 26th February 1988 those provisions of the Sex Discrimination Act 1986 which are not already in force. They relate to the repeal of the provisions of the Hours of Employment (Conventions) Act 1936 (c. 22) which impose restrictions on the employment of women at night in industrial undertakings.
