(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order repeals local enactments enabling the Thames Water Authority to abstract limited quantities of water from the River Thames.
The Authority’s right to abstract water from the River Thames between Windsor and Teddington Weir is governed by a licence granted under sections 33 and 34 of the Water Resources Act 1963. The Secretary of State has varied that licence so as to provide for abstraction of amounts of water which differ from those permitted by the local enactments; and this Order accordingly repeals those provisions which are inconsistent with the provisions of the current licence.
See the definition of “repeal”.
