The Treasury and the Minister of Education in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by Section 6 of the Elementary School Teachers (Superannuation) Act, 1898 hereby make the following Rules:—
1. These Rules may be cited as the Elementary School Teachers Superannuation (Amending) Rules, 1950, and shall come into operation on the 16th day of January, 1950.
2. For Rule 14 of the Elementary School Teachers Superannuation Rules, 1919(1), the following Rule is substituted:—
“14. Where the grantee of an allowance is wholly or partly maintained out of any public money so much, if any, of the allowance may be suspended as the Treasury may consider proper in all the circumstances of the case.”

These Amending Rules make the suspension of pension under the Elementary School Teachers (Superannuation) Act, 1898, discretionary, instead of obligatory, in the case of pensioners who are maintained out of public money.
