Caiff Cwricwlwm Cenedlaethol Cymru ar gyfer addysg gorfforol ei ddiwygio o 1 Awst 2000 ymlaen. Mae'r Gorchymyn hwn yn rhoi effaith gyfreithiol i raglenni astudio newydd, sy'n nodi beth ddylid ei addysgu i ddisgyblion, ac yn gosod targedau cyrhaeddiad iddynt. Rhoddir y manylion amdanynt mewn dogfen o'r enw “ Addysg Gorfforol yn y Cwricwlwm Cenedlaethol” sydd ar gael gan Awdurdod Cymwysterau, Cwricwlwm ac Asesu Cymru.
Mae'r Gorchymyn hefyd yn nodi'r trefniadau i gyflwyno'r Cwricwlwm Cenedlaethol newydd fesul rhan.
Mae'r Gorchymyn yn disodli Gorchymyn Addysg (Cwricwlwm Cenedlaethol) (Targedau Cyrhaeddiad a Rhaglenni Astudio mewn Addysg Gorfforol) (Cymru) 1998.
