The Lord President of the Council makes this Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 4 of the European Parliamentary Elections Act 2002(1).
1. This Order may be cited as the European Parliamentary Elections (Appointed Day of Poll) Order 2013 and comes into force on 2nd September 2013.
2. The day appointed for the poll at the next general election of Members of the European Parliament is 22nd May 2014.

Council Decision 2013/299/EU, Euratom(2) sets 22nd to 25th May as the period for elections of Members of the European Parliament in 2014.
This Order appoints Thursday 22nd May 2014 as the day of the poll in the United Kingdom and Gibraltar.
A full regulatory impact assessment has not been produced for this instrument as no impact on the private or voluntary sectors is foreseen.
2002 c.24; section 4 was extended to Gibraltar by section 19 of the European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003 (c.7). The power conferred on the Secretary of State by section 4 was made exercisable concurrently by the Lord President of the Council and the Secretary of State by the Lord President of the Council Order 2010 (S.I. 2010/1837).
