EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Education (School Attendance Targets) (England) Regulations 2007 (“the Principal Regulations”).

Regulation 2(2) revokes the requirements on governing bodies in regulations 3 and 4 of the Principal Regulations to set annual targets for reducing the number of absences and to notify the local authority of those targets.

Regulations 2(3) and (4) make amendments to regulations 10 and 11 of the Principal Regulations which are consequential on the omission of regulations 3 and 4 so that the local authority no longer has to arrange for revised targets to be set or give the Secretary of State information about such targets.

No impact assessment has been produced for this instrument because no impact on the private, voluntary or public sector is foreseen.

(1)

1998 c. 31. Section 63 is amended by section 53 of the Education Act 2002 c. 32.
