The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by sections 123(1)(d) and (e), 131(3)(b), 135(1), 136(3), 136A(3), 137(1) and (2)(h) and 175(1), (3) and (4) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 1992(1) and sections 6(1)(1), 189(1), (4) and (5) and 191 of the Social Security Administration Act 1992(2) and paragraphs 4(6), 20(1)(b) and 23(1) of Schedule 7 to the Child Support, Pensions and Social Security Act 2000(3) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, after agreement by the Social Security Advisory Committee that proposals in respect of these Regulations should not be referred to it(4) and after consultation with the organisations appearing to him to be representative of the authorities concerned(5), hereby makes the following Regulations:
1992 c. 4; section 123(1)(e) was substituted by paragraph 1(1) of Schedule 9 to the Local Government Finance Act 1992 (c. 14); section 131(3)(b) was substituted by paragraph 4 of Schedule 9 to the Local Government Finance Act 1992; section 136A was inserted by paragraph 3 of Schedule 2 to the State Pension Credit Act 2002 (c. 16); section 137(1) is an interpretation provision and is cited for the meaning of the word “prescribed”.

2000 c. 19; paragraph 23(1) is cited for the meaning of the word “prescribed”.
