Greater London Authority Elections (No. 2) Rules 2000

8.—(1) Amend the Greater London Authority Elections (No. 2) Rules 2000(1) as follows.

(2) In Schedule 1 (The Constituency Members Election Rules)—

(a) in rule 30(2), for “husband [wife]” (in each place) substitute “spouse, civil partner”;

(b) in rule 34(3)(b), for “husband, wife” substitute “spouse, civil partner”; and

(c) in rule 39(2)(b), for “husbands or wives” substitute “spouses or civil partners”.

(3) In Schedule 2 (The London Members Election Rules)—

(a) in rule 31(2), for “husband [wife]” (in each place) substitute “spouse, civil partner”;

(b) in rule 35(3)(b), for “husband, wife” substitute “spouse, civil partner”; and

(c) in rule 40(2)(b), for “husbands or wives” substitute “spouses or civil partners”.

(4) In Schedule 3 (The Mayoral Election Rules)—

(a) in rule 31(2), for “husband [wife]” (in each place) substitute “spouse, civil partner”;

(b) in rule 35(3)(b), for “husband, wife” substitute “spouse, civil partner”; and

(c) in rule 40(2)(b), for “husbands or wives” substitute “spouses or civil partners”.

(5) In Schedule 5 (Forms), in form 11 (Proxy’s official poll card), for “husband, wife”, which appear in the fourth paragraph on the back of the card, substitute “spouse, civil partner”.

(6) In Schedule 8 (Rules for conduct of an election of constituency members where the poll is taken together with the poll at any other election or referendum – the Constituency Members Election Rules)—

(a) in rule 32(2), for “husband [wife]” (in each place) substitute “spouse, civil partner”;

(b) in rule 36(3)(b), for “husband, wife” substitute “spouse, civil partner”; and

(c) in rule 41(4)(b), for “husbands or wives” substitute “spouses or civil partners”.

(7) In Schedule 9 (Rules for conduct of an election of London members of the London Assembly where the poll is taken together with the poll at any other election or referendum – the London Members Election Rules)—

(a) in rule 33(2), for “husband [wife]” (in each place) substitute “spouse, civil partner”;

(b) in rule 37(3)(b), for “husband, wife” substitute “spouse, civil partner”; and

(c) in rule 42(4)(b), for “husbands or wives” substitute “spouses or civil partners”.

(8) In Schedule 10 (Rules for conduct of an election of the Mayor of London where the poll is taken together with the poll at any other election or referendum – the Mayoral Election Rules)—

(a) in rule 33(2), for “husband [wife]” (in each place) substitute “spouse, civil partner”;

(b) in rule 37(3)(b), for “husband, wife” substitute “spouse, civil partner”; and

(c) in rule 42(4)(b), for “husbands or wives” substitute “spouses or civil partners”.
