The Secretary of State for Education and Skills, in exercise of the powers conferred upon the Secretary of State by section 4(2) of the Education Act 1994(1) hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Education (Funding for Teacher Training) Designation (No.2) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 4th November 2003.

2.  The following are hereby designated as institutions eligible for funding under Part I of the Education Act 1994—

(a)Undergraduate Ambassadors Limited, a company limited by guarantee having the registration number 4861135,

(b)Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council, and

(c)Southend Education Action Forum.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order is made under section 4(2) of the Education Act 1994. It designates Undergraduate Ambassadors Limited, a company limited by guarantee and having the registration number 4861135, Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council and Southend Education Action Forum as institutions eligible for funding under Part I of the Education Act 1994.

As a result of the Order, the Teacher Training Agency may make grants, loans, or other payments in respect of expenditure incurred or to be incurred by the designated institutions for the purposes of teacher training and the provision of facilities, and the carrying on of other activities, which the institutions consider it necessary or desirable to provide or carry on for the purpose of or in connection with the provision of teacher training.
