The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the power conferred upon him by section 45(2) of the Access to Justice Act 1999(1), makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Appointment of Queen’s Counsel Fees Order 2002 and shall come into force on 27th August 2002.

Fees upon application for recommendation for appointment as Queen’s Counsel in England and Wales

2.  Any person who applies to the Lord Chancellor to be recommended for appointment as Queen’s Counsel in England and Wales shall pay a fee of £720.

Revocation

3.  The Appointment of Queen’s Counsel Fees Order 1999(2) is revoked.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order increases the fee payable by a person who wishes to apply to the Lord Chancellor to be recommended for appointment as Queen’s Counsel in England and Wales fixed by the Appointment of Queen’s Counsel Fees Order 1999. The fee will increase from £335 to £720.

The revised fees will come into force on 27th August 2002.
