Coming into force in accordance with article 1

The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions makes this Instrument in exercise of powers conferred by section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980(1) and now vested in him(2) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf.

1.  This Instrument may be cited as The County Council of Hampshire (Norris Bridge Gyratory—Norris Bridge, Pyestock) Scheme 2000 Confirmation Instrument 2001 and shall come into force on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.

2.  The County Council of Hampshire (Norris Bridge Gyratory—Norris Bridge, Pyestock) Scheme 2000 (“the Scheme”) is hereby confirmed without modifications.

3.  The Scheme as confirmed is set out in the Schedule hereto (including the plans) and copies of the Scheme with its accompanying plans are deposited at the offices of the Department of Transport, Local Government and the Regions, Floor 13 (IMD), Ashdown House, St. Leonards On Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA, and at the offices of the Winchester Information Centre, Mottisfont Court, High Street, Winchester, and at the Farnborough Information Centre, Farnborough Library, Pinehurst, Farnborough.

THE SCHEDULEThe County Council of Hampshire (Norris Bridge Gyratory—Norris Bridge, Pyestock) Scheme 2000

The County Council of Hampshire (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) make this Scheme in exercise of their powers under section 106(3) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf:—

1.  The Council are authorised to construct over the navigable waters of the Basingstoke Canal the bridge specified in the Schedule to this Scheme as part of the Highway which they are proposing to construct between a point on the existing Ively Road approximately 100 metres north of its junction with the A323, and a point at the junction of the existing Ively Road with the A323 in the Borough of Rushmoor in the said County.

2.  This Scheme may be cited as the County Council of Hampshire (Norris Bridge Gyratory—Norris Bridge, Pyestock) Scheme 2000.

POINTS OF COMMENCEMENT AND TERMINATION

From a point on the north bank of the canal

Map Reference 483235.30 east, 153588.60 north

To a point on the south bank of the canal

Map Reference 483236.30 east, 153549.30 north

All on Ordnance Sheet SU 8353 NW

(Being approximately 50 metres west of the existing Norris Bridge which carries Ively Road over the canal)

SPAN

A single span of 35.25 metres

HEADWAY

Not less than 5.70 metres above normal canal level. The normal canal level is 0.50 metres below bank level. The bridge will provide a vertical clearance over the towpath of not less than 5.20 metres

WATERWAY

A minimum clear manageable waterway of 11.4 metres
