In exercise of the powers conferred by section 46(4) of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998(1), the Secretary of State for Education and Employment hereby makes the following Order:
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998 (Commencement No 7) Order 2000.
(2) In this Order “the 1998 Act” means the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998.
2. Section 15 of the 1998 Act shall come into force on 15th August 2000.

This Order brings into force section 15 of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998 on 15th August 2000. This section empowers the Secretary of State to make regulations requiring employers of teachers and workers with children and young persons to supply information relating to their dismissal or resignation to the Secretary of State, the General Teaching Council for England or the General Teaching Council for Wales.
