Whereas a draft of this Order has in accordance with section 1(4) of the International Headquarters and Defence Organisations Act 1964(1) been laid before Parliament and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 1 of that Act, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:–
1. This Order may be cited as the International Headquarters and Defence Organisations (Designation and Privileges) (Amendment) Order 1999 and shall come into force on the day after the date on which it is made.
2. For Part II of the Schedule to the International Headquarters and Defence Organisations (Designation and Privileges) Order 1965(2) there shall be substituted–
Headquarters Allied Forces North Western Europe (AFNORTHWEST).
Headquarters Allied Air Forces North Western Europe (AIRNORTHWEST).
Headquarters Allied Naval Forces North Western Europe (NAVNORTHWEST).
Headquarters Maritime Air Forces North West (MARAIRNORTHWEST).
Headquarters Submarine Forces North West (SUBNORTHWEST).
Headquarters Allied Forces Eastern Atlantic Area (EASTLANT).
Headquarters Maritime Air Forces Eastern Atlantic Area (MARAIREASTLANT).
Headquarters Submarine Forces Eastern Atlantic Area (SUBEASTLANT).
Headquarters United Kingdom–Netherlands Amphibious Force (UKNLAF).
Headquarters United Kingdom–Netherlands Landing Force (UKNLLF).

This Order amends the International Headquarters and Defence Organisations (Designation and Privileges) Order 1965 by substituting a new Part II of the Schedule to that Order. The Schedule to the 1965 Order lists those headquarters which are designated for the purposes of the International Headquarters and Defence Organisations Act 1964. Part II of that Schedule lists those headquarters which benefit from the privileges and immunities conferred by article 3 (inviolability of archives) of the 1965 Order.
The majority of the headquarters specified in the substituted Part II were previously included in that Part. Those headquarters not previously included in Part II are the Headquarters Maritime Air Forces North West (MARAIRNORTHWEST), the Headquarters Submarine Forces North West (SUBNORTHWEST), the Headquarters United Kingdom–Netherlands Amphibious Force (UKNLAF) and the Headquarters United Kingdom–Netherlands Landing Force (UKNLLF).
