In exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 4(4) of the Offensive Weapons Act 1996(1), the Secretary of State hereby makes the following Order:
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Offensive Weapons Act 1996 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1996.
(2) This Order extends to Northern Ireland.
2. Subsections (1) to (3) of section 4 of the Offensive Weapons Act 1996 shall come into force on 1st September 1996.

This Order brings into force on 1st September 1996 subsections (1) to (3) of section 4 of the Offensive Weapons Act 1996 which make it an offence to have an article with a blade or point (or offensive weapon) on school premises.
