Whereas the Secretary of State has granted to AtlanticTelecommunications Limited on 29 June 1995 a licence (“theLicence”) under section 7 of the Telecommunications Act1984(1) (“the Act”), to which section 8 of theAct applies, for the running of the telecommunication systemsspecified in the Licence (“the Applicable Systems”):
Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of thepowers conferred on him by section 9 of the Act, hereby makes thefollowing Order:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Public TelecommunicationSystem Designation (Atlantic Telecommunications Limited) Order1996 and shall come into force on 17th July 1996.
2. Each of the Applicable Systems is hereby designated as apublic telecommunication system.

The Secretary of State granted to Atlantic TelecommunicationsLimited a licence on 29 June 1995 under section 7 of theTelecommunications Act 1984 to run the telecommunication systemsspecified in that Licence in the Strathclyde Region. A copy ofthe licence was laid before Parliament on 18th June 1996. ThisOrder designates those telecommunication systems as publictelecommunication systems. Consequently, by virtue of section9(3) of that Act, Atlantic Telecommunications Limited will be apublic telecommunications operator when the Order comes intoforce on 17th July 1996.
A copy of the licence may be obtained from the Office ofTelecommunications, 50 Ludgate Hill, London, EC4M 7JJ.
