(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations, which come into force on 1st July 1994, amend the Oil and Fibre Plant Seeds Regulations 1993 (“the 1993 Regulations”) and implement Council Directive 69/208/EEC (OJ No. L169, 10.7.69, p. 3) as ended by Commission Directive 92/107/EEC (OJ No. L16, 25.1.93, p. 1).

The Regulations provide for the table contained in paragraph 8(a) of Part I of Schedule 4 to the 1993 Regulations to be replaced by a new table (regulation 2) and thereby increase the standard to be satisfied in respect of the minimum varietal purity of soya bean seeds.

A Compliance Cost Assessment has been prepared and a copy has been placed in the library of each House of Parliament.
