PUBLIC PASSENGER TRANSPORT

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 52(1) and 60(1)(e) and (1A) of the Public Passenger Vehicles Act 1981 (“the 1981 Act”)(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 61(2) of the 1981 Act (2), hereby makes the following Regulations:

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Public Service Vehicles (Operators' Licences) (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 1st December 1993.

2.  The Public Service Vehicles (Operators' Licences) Regulations 1986 (3) shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of these Regulations.

3.  In regulation 19, for “£3.50”, in each place where it occurs, there shall be substituted “£4.50”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulation)

These Regulations amend the Public Service Vehicles (Operators' Licences) Regulations 1986, which consolidated with modifications the Public Service Vehicles (Operators' Licences) Regulations 1981.

The fee for the grant of a licence (other than a special licence) is increased from £3.50 to £4.50 for each month, or part of the month, during which the licence is expressed to be in force.

The fee for the second and every subsequent disc issued to the holder of a licence is increased from £3.50 to £4.50 for each month, or part of the month, during which the disc may be used.

These fees have not been increased since 1981.

1981 c. 14; section 52(1) was amended by paragraph 7 of Schedule 1, paragraph 4(14) of Part II of Schedule 2 and Schedule 8 to the Transport Act 1985 (c. 67) (“the 1985 Act”); section 60(1) was amended by section 134(2)(a) of, and by paragraph 4(18) of Part II of Schedule 2, paragraph 21(9) of Schedule 7 and Schedule 8 to, the 1985 Act; section 60(1A) was inserted by section 134(2)(b) of the 1985 Act. “Prescribed” is defined in section 82(1) of the 1981 Act.
