The Diocesan Chancellorship Regulations 1993

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2A of the Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Measure 1963(1) the House of Bishops of the General Synod hereby make the following regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.  These regulations may be cited as the Diocesan Chancellorship Regulations 1993 and shall come into operation on 1st October 1993.

Extent

2.  These regulations extend to the whole of the provinces of Canterbury and York.

Number of Chancellorships to be held by one person

3.  As from the date of the coming into force of these Regulations the maximum number of chancellorships of dioceses which any one person may hold shall be limited to two.

4.  Nothing in these Regulations shall be taken as prohibiting any person who at the date on which these Regulations come into force holds more than the maximum number of chancellorships prescribed by the Regulations from continuing to hold such offices.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations restrict the number of chancellorships held by any one person to two. In accordance with section 2A of the Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Measure 1963 these Regulations were made by the House of Bishops on 24th June 1993.
