The Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, with the consent ofthe Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section56(1) and (2) of the Finance Act 1973(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Measuring Instruments (EECRequirements) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 1991 and shall come intoforce on 1st May 1991.

2.  The Measuring Instruments (EEC Requirements) (Fees) Regulations1988(2) are hereby amended as follows—

(a)in regulation 3(2), for“£28.00” there shall be substituted“£30.30”;

(b)in paragraph (a) of Schedule 2, for“£48.00” there shall be substituted“£52.00”; and

(c)in paragraph 1(1)(a) of Schedule 3, for“£33.00”,“£48.00” and“£9.20” there shall be substituted respectively“£35.00”,“£52.00” and“£12.00”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations further amend fees payable in connection withservices provided by the Department of Trade and Industry so that, witheffect from 1st May 1991—

(1) the fees payable for an application for EEC initial verification ofall classes of alcoholometers and alcohol hydrometres are increased from£28.00 to £30.30;

(2) the fees payable per hour for EEC initial verfication of certaininstruments and systems are increased from £48.00 to£52.00; and

(3) the fees payable per hour for EEC pattern approval for examinerstaff time, for equipment test unit staff time and for the use of anenvironmental testing chamber are amended from £33.00,£48.00, and £9.20 to, respectively £35.00,£52.00 and £12.00.
