The Civil Courts (Amendment No. 2) Order 1991

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 2 of the County Courts Act 1984(1), hereby makes the following Order:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the Civil Courts (Amendment No. 2) Order 1991 and shall come into force on 28th October 1991.

2.—(1) The holding of the Todmorden County Court shall be discontinued and Schedule 3 to the Civil Courts Order 1983(2) shall accordingly be amended by deleting the entry relating to that court.

(2) The Halifax County Court shall have jurisdiction in proceedings commenced in the Todmorden County Court before this Order comes into force.

(3) No process shall be invalid only because the holding of the court described therein by name has been discontinued by this Order. Dated 30th September 1991

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Civil Courts Order 1983 so as to close the Todmorden County Court in Todmorden, Lancashire. The Halifax County Court is given jurisdiction in proceedings commenced in Todmorden before its closure.
