Whereas the Secretary of State has granted to Greater ManchesterCablevision Limited on 18th March 1991 a licence (“the Licence”) under section 7 of the Telecommunications Act 1984(1) (“the Act”), to which section 8 of the Act applies, for the running of thetelecommunication systems specified in Annex A to the Licence (“the Applicable Cabled Systems”):
Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powersconferred on him by section 9 of the Act, hereby makes the followingOrder:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Public Telecommunication SystemDesignation (Greater Manchester Cablevision Limited) Order 1991 andshall come into force on 28th May 1991.
2. Each of the Applicable Cabled Systems is hereby designated as apublic telecommunications system.

The Secretary of State granted to Greater Manchester CablevisionLimited on 18th March 1991 a licence under section 7 of theTelecommunications Act 1984 to run the telecommunication systemsspecified in Annex A to that licence, in the Boroughs of Trafford andSalford and all of the City of Manchester. A copy of the licence waslaid before Parliament on 29th April 1991. This Order designates thosetelecommunication systems as public telecommunication systems.Consequently, by virtue of section 9(3) of that Act, Greater ManchesterCablevision Limited will be a public telecommunications operator whenthe Order comes into force on 28th May 1991.
