1.  This Order may be cited as the Representation of the People (Welsh Forms) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 21st April 1989.

2.  The Elections (Welsh Forms) Order 1970(1) is hereby revoked.

3.  In this Order “the 1983 Act” means the Representation of the People Act 1983(2).

4.  Each of the forms set out in Schedule 1 to this Order is hereby prescribed as the version partly in Welsh and partly in English which shall be used:

(a)in the case of form 1, at a parliamentary election in Wales in place of the notice required by rule 29(5) of the parliamentary elections rules in Schedule 1 to the 1983 Act (voting compartment notice)(3);

(b)in the case of form 2, as the proxy paper to be issued by the registration officer in Wales in place of form D (proxy paper) in Schedule 2 to the Representation of the People Regulations 1986(4); and

(c)in the case of forms 3, 4 and 5, at a parliamentary election in Wales in place of forms H, J and K (declarations of identity), respectively, in Schedule 2 to the Representation of the People Regulations 1986.

5.  Each of the forms set out in Schedule 2 to this Order is hereby prescribed as the Welsh version which may be used at a parliamentary election in Wales in place of the forms prescribed by the following provisions in the parliamentary elections rules in Schedule 1 to the 1983 Act, which provisions are:

(a)in the case of form 1, rule 35(1)(a),

(b)in the case of form 2, rule 35(1)(b),

(c)in the case of form 3, rule 35(2),

(d)in the case of forms 4, 5 and 6, the form of nomination paper, the form of directions for the guidance of the voters in voting(5) and the form of declaration to be made by the companion of a blind voter, respectively, set out in the Appendix to those rules.

6.  The forms set out in Schedules 1 and 2 to this Order, except forms 1, 2 and 3 in Schedule 2, may be used with such modifications as circumstances require.
