In exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 35 of the Police Act 1964, as extended by section 13 of the Superannuation (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1967 and sections 12 and 15 of the Superannuation Act 1972, and after consulting the Police Negotiating Board for the United Kingdom in accordance with section 2(3) of the Police Negotiating Board Act 1980, I hereby make the following Regulations:—
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Police Cadets (Pensions) (Amendment) Regulations 1980.
2. These Regulations shall come into operation on 1st October 1980 and shall have effect for the purposes of Regulation 3 as from 1st April 1980.
3. In Regulation 5(3)(a) of the Police Cadets (Pensions) Regulations 1973(1) there shall be inserted after the words “pensionable service” the words “before 1st April 1980”.

These Regulations amend the Police Cadets (Pensions) Regulations 1973 with effect from 1st April 1980 (retrospection is authorised by sections 12 and 15 of the Superannuation Act 1972). Under Regulation 5(3)(a) of the 1973 Regulations an ill-health pension payable to a police cadet is reduced by an amount calculated at an annual rate obtained by multiplying £1.70 by the number of years of pensionable service which the cadet is entitled to reckon. These Regulations amend this by limiting the reduction to service before 1st April 1980.
