17.—(1) A police cadet shall, subject to paragraph (2), be entitled in any year to travel allowances in respect of the cost of up to three return journeys, actually made, to visit a parent or guardian where the cost of the return journey exceeds £0.50.
(2) An allowance payable under this Regulation shall not in any case exceed whichever is the less of the two following amounts, namely:—
(a)the reasonable cost of the return journey actually made;
(b)the reasonable cost of a return journey to the parent's or guardian's usual place of abode;
and, without prejudice to the said limitation, an allowance payable in respect of a return journey to a place outside the British Isles shall not exceed £36.
In computing the amount referred to in sub-paragraph (a) or (b) of this paragraph, any question as to reasonable cost shall be determined by the police authority.
