Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament on the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs and has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (Modification) Order 1975 and shall come into operation on 1st May 1975.
2.—(1) In this Order “the Act” means
(2) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
3. Schedule 2 to the Act (which specifies the drugs which are subject to control under that Act) shall be amended by the insertion in paragraph 1 of Part I of that Schedule—
(a)after the word “Diethylthiambutene”, of the words “Difenoxin (1-(3-cyano-3,3-diphenylpropyl)-4-phenylpiperidine-4-carboxylic acid)”; and
(b)after the word “Trimeperidine”, of the words
“4-Bromo-2,5-dimethoxy-α-methylphenethylamine ”

This Order adds to Part I of Schedule 2 to the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (which specifies the Class A drugs which are subject to control under the Act), Difenoxin and 4-Bromo-2,5-dimethoxy-α-methylphenethylamine.
