The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 47(2)(b) of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024(1).
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (Commencement) Regulations 2024.
(2) These Regulations come into force on 31 January 2024.
2. 31 January 2024 is the appointed day for the coming into force of the following provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024—
(a)section 1 (meaning of “the UNCRC requirements” and related expressions),
(b)section 2 (meaning of references to States Parties and related expressions in the UNCRC requirements),
(c)section 13 (guidance on Part 2),
(d)section 20 (guidance on section 18),
(e)section 44 (rules of court),
(f)the schedule (the UNCRC requirements).

These Regulations bring sections 1, 2, 13, 20, and 44 and the schedule of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Act 2024 (“the Act”) into force on 31 January 2024.
The Bill for the Act received Royal Assent on 16 January 2024. Sections 42, 45, 46, 47 and 48 came into force on the following day.
