The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 94A(2A)(a)(i) of the Civil Partnership Act 2004(1) and all other powers enabling them to do so.
In accordance with section 94A(2B)(a) of the Civil Partnership Act 2004 the bodies prescribed in regulation 2 have requested the Scottish Ministers to prescribe them.
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Civil Partnership Between Persons of Different Sexes (Prescribed Bodies) (Scotland) Regulations 2021 and come into force on 1 June 2021.
2. The bodies prescribed for the purpose of section 94A(2A)(a)(i) of the Civil Partnership Act 2004 (persons who may register different sex civil partnerships) are listed in the schedule of these Regulations.

These Regulations prescribe bodies for the purpose of section 94A(2A)(a)(i) of the Civil Partnership Act 2004. Celebrants of religious or belief bodies that are so prescribed may register civil partnerships between couples of different sexes without being individually registered or authorised for the purpose by the Registrar General of Births, Deaths and Marriages for Scotland.
2004 c.33. Section 94A was inserted by section 24(13) of the Marriage and Civil Partnership (Scotland) Act 2014 (asp 5). Subsections (2A) and (2B) are inserted by section 7(2)(b) of the Civil Partnership (Scotland) Act 2020 (asp 15).
