Regulation 18(2)
1.—(1) The categories or descriptions of persons to whom the scheme may be extended by determination pursuant to section 25 of the 2013 Act are as follows.
(2) Any person (or any class of persons) who—
(a)is wholly or mainly engaged in health services and is—
(i)working in a charitable organisation which provides health services;
(ii)employed under joint initiative arrangements set up by a Health Board and a local authority to deliver integrated services; or
(iii)employed as a lecturer or clinical researcher on a time-limited contract in a university medical school approved by the Scottish Ministers; or
(iv)in any other employment that is approved by the Scottish Ministers; and
(b)were the person in the employment of an NHS organisation, would be eligible to join the scheme.
(3) A person who while continuing in, or within twelve months after leaving, employment in which that person was entitled to participate in pension benefits provided under these Regulations (any period spent by that person on an approved course of study or training being left out of account) enters such other employment as may be approved by the Scottish Ministers for the purposes of these Regulations.
(4) An approval given for the purposes of sub-paragraph (3) may specify provisions of these Regulations which—
(a)are not to apply to the person; or
(b)are to the apply to the person subject to such modifications as are specified.
