1. This Order may be cited as the Zoonoses (Amendment) Order (Northern Ireland) 2021 and comes into operation on 25th February 2021.
2.—(1) The Zoonoses Order (Northern Ireland) 1991(3) is amended as follows.
(2) In Article 4(1)—
(a)in sub-paragraph (c) omit “and”;
(b)at the end of sub-paragraph (d), add “; and”;
(c)after sub-paragraph (d), insert—
“(e)Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).”.
(3) In Article 10—
(a)in paragraph (1), after “presence” insert “, or former presence,”;
(b)in paragraph (2)(a)—
(i)after “a culture” insert “or any diagnostic material”;
(ii)after “presence” insert “, or former presence,”.
(4) In Schedule 1, before the existing entry relating to Schedule 2 of the 1981 Order insert—
“Where the designated organism is Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), Schedule 2 Pt. 1 para 10 and Pt. 2 para 12B.”
(5) In Schedule 2, after paragraph 2, insert—
“2A. Where the designated organism is Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), the name and address of the keeper or owner of the animal or carcase from which the sample in which the designated organism is isolated or previous presence is detected.”.

This Order amends the Zoonoses Order (Northern Ireland) 1991 to add Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) to the list of organisms designated under Article 7 of the Diseases of Animals (Northern Ireland) Order 1981.
An impact assessment has not been produced for this Order as no, or no significant, impact on the private or voluntary sector is foreseen.
Formerly the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD see Article 3(4) of the Departments (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 (S.I. 1999/283 (N.I. 1)).DARD was renamed the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) by section 1(2) of the Departments Act (Northern Ireland) 2016 (c.5 (N.I.)).
