Coming into operation in accordance with Article 1
The Department of Justice makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 23 of Schedule 2 to the Modern Slavery Act 2015(1) (“the 2015 Act”).
The Department of Justice has, in accordance with paragraph 23(1) of Schedule 2 to the 2015 Act, prepared a code of practice in connection with the paragraph 22 power of arrest of constables and enforcement officers
In pursuance of paragraph 23(6)(a), the Department of Justice has laid a draft of the code of practice before the Assembly.
Accordingly, the Department of Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 23(6)(b), makes the following Order.
1. This Order may be cited as the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (Power of arrest: Code of Practice) Order (Northern Ireland) 2016 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2016.
2. The code of practice entitled “Code of Practice to be followed by Northern Ireland Constables and Enforcement Officers when arresting a person under the power conferred by paragraph 22(2) of Schedule 2 to the Modern Slavery Act 2015” comes into operation upon commencement of Part 3 of and Schedule 2 to the 2015 Act.

This Order brings into operation a Code of Practice to be followed by Northern Ireland constables and enforcement officers when arresting a person under the power conferred by paragraph 22(2) of Schedule 2 to the Modern Slavery Act 2015. The Code takes effect upon commencement of Part 3 of, and Schedule 2 to, the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
