Categories of Tourist Establishment Order (Northern Ireland) 2011

The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment(1), in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 12(2) of the Tourism (Northern Ireland) Order 1992(2), makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Categories of Tourist Establishment Order (Northern Ireland) 2011.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the day after that on which it is affirmed by a resolution of the Assembly.

Amendment of Article 12(1) of the Tourism (Northern Ireland) Order 1992

2.—(1) Article 12(1) (The statutory categories of tourist establishment) of the Tourism (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 shall be amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) and (3).

(2) In sub-paragraph (d) delete “and”.

(3) After sub-paragraph (e) insert—

“(f) bunk house;

(g) campus accommodation; and

(h) guest accommodation.”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends Article 12(1) of the Tourism (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 (“the Tourism Order”) by adding three new categories of tourist establishment to the five existing categories of tourist establishment.

The five existing categories of tourist establishment as set out in Article 12(1) of the Tourism Order are hotels, guest houses, bed and breakfast establishments, self-catering establishments and hostels.

Article 2 of this Order makes amendments to Article 12(1) of the Tourism Order by adding three new categories of tourist establishment to the list as set out in Article 12(1) of the Tourism Order. These new categories of tourist establishment are bunk house, campus accommodation and guest accommodation.
