The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety(1) makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(2).

The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety has been designated(3) for the purposes of that section in relation to measures relating to food (including drink) including the primary production of food.

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Meat (Official Controls Charges) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007 and shall come into operation on 10th January 2007.

Interpretation

2.  The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954(4) shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to an Act of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

Amendment to the Meat (Official Controls Charges) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006

3.—(1) Schedule 2 of the Meat (Official Controls Charges) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006 (5) is amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) to (4).

(2) In paragraph 1, for “paragraphs”, substitute with “paragraph”.

(3) In paragraph 2(3)(a), for “25th”, substitute with “31st”.

(4) In paragraph 4, in the third entry of the first column of the table, for “aged 6 weeks or more at slaughter”, there shall be substituted “aged less than 6 weeks at slaughter”.

These Regulations correct typographical errors which appear in Schedule 2, paragraphs 1, 2 and 4 of the Meat (Official Controls Charges) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006 (SR 2006 No. 454).
