ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES

The Department of the Environment, being a department designated(1) for the purpose of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(2) in relation to the regulation of the type, description, construction or equipment of vehicles and the regulation and supervision of working conditions of persons engaged in road transport, in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by section 56(1) and (5) of the Finance Act 1973(3) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, and with the consent of the Department of Finance and Personnel(4) as regards regulation 2, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2002.
(2) The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954(5) shall apply to these Regulations as it applies to a Measure of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
2.—(1) Regulation 9 of the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996(6) (fee for approval or renewal of approval of fitters and workshops) shall be amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) and (3).
(2) In paragraph (a), for “£325” there shall be substituted “£336”.
(3) In paragraph (b), for “£99” there shall be substituted “£102”.

These Regulations amend the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 by increasing the fee for—
(1) Granting or renewing approval of a fitter or workshop for the installation or repair of recording equipment (tachographs) from £325 to £336; and
(2) The renewal of an approval from £99 to £102.
