ROAD TRAFFIC AND VEHICLES

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 61(1), 66(1) and 218(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, and with the approval of the Department of Finance and Personnel(2), hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2002.
2. In the Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985(3) for Schedule 7 there shall be substituted—
Regulations 4A(1), 5(3), 9(2), (3), (5) and (6), and 12(1)
1. Fee payable with initial application for a vehicle licence (see regulation 5(3))

3. Fee payable with re-application for a vehicle licence made within 21 days from the date of the service of the notice of refusal (see regulation 9(3))

4. Fee payable with re-application for a vehicle licence made under regulation 9(4) within 21 days from the date of the service of the notice of refusal (see regulation 9(5))

5. Fee payable for a duplicate vehicle licence (see regulation 12(1))

3. The Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996(4) and the Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001(5) are herby revoked.

These Regulations amend the Public Service Vehicles Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1985 by increasing the fee payable—
(1) For an initial or re-application for a vehicle licence for—
(a)Buses—
Class I, II and III, from £46·50 to £60·50;
Class IA, from £54·00 to £72·00;
Class IIA, from £63·50 to £83·50; and
Class IIIA, from £73·00 to £94·50;
(b)Taxi, from £33·50 to £38·50.
(2) For a re-application for a vehicle licence made within 21 days from the date of the service of the notice of refusal for—
(a)Buses, all Classes, from £13·50 to £18·50; and
(b)Taxi, from £12·00 to £16·50.
(3) For a re-application under regulation 9(4) within 21 days from the date of the service of the notice of refusal for—
Buses—
Class IA, from £13·50 to £18·50;
Class IIA, from £23·00 to £30·00; and
Class IIIA from £32·50 to £42·00.
The Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 and the Public Service Vehicles (Licence Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001 are revoked.
