Goods Vehicles (Testing) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002

The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 65(1) and (2), 67(1) and 110(2) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Goods Vehicles (Testing) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2002 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2002.

Amendment of the Goods Vehicles (Testing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995

2.  In the Goods Vehicles (Testing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995(2) for Schedule 1 there shall be substituted—

Regulations 10(2),13(3) and (4) and 17(4)

Part I Fee Payable on Application under regulations 10(2), 13(3) or 17(4)

(iv) articulated vehicle having a 2 axle drawing vehicle	£36·00
(v) articulated vehicle having a 3 axle drawing vehicle	£48·00
Trailer	£33·50

Part II Fee Payable on Application under regulation 13(4)

Revocation

3.  The Goods Vehicles (Testing) (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2001(3) are hereby revoked.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations amend the Goods Vehicles (Testing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995 by increasing the fees as follows—

(1) For a vehicle 3,500 kilograms maximum gross weight or under—

(a) the fee payable on application for a first test, a periodical test, a re-test or an appeal is increased from £18·50 to £25·00; and

(b) the fee payable where an application for a retest is made within 21 days from the date of service of a notice of refusal of a goods vehicle test certificate is increased from £11·00 to £16·00.

(2) For vehicles exceeding 3,500 kilograms maximum gross weight—

(a) the fee payable on application for a first test, a periodical test, a re-test or an appeal is increased as follows—

(i) for a 2 axle rigid vehicle, from £24·50 to £32·00;

(ii) for a 3 axle rigid vehicle, from £30·00 to £42·00;

(iii) for a 4 axle rigid vehicle, from £36·50 to £53·00;

(iv) for an articulated vehicle having a 2 axle drawing vehicle, from £26·50 to £36·00; and

(v) for an articulated vehicle having a 3 axle drawing vehicle, from £34·00 to £48·00.

(b) the fee payable where an application for a retest is made within 21 days from the date of service of a notice of refusal of a goods vehicle test certificate is increased as follows—

(i) for a rigid vehicle, from £14·00 to £16·50; and

(ii) for an articulated vehicle, from £14·00 to £18·50.

(3) For a trailer—

(a) the fee payable on application for a first test, a periodical test, a retest or an appeal is increased from £23·50 to £33·50; and

(b) the fee payable where an application for a retest is made within 21 days from the date of service of a notice of refusal of a goods vehicle test certificate is increased from £14·00 to £18·50.
