The Department of the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Articles 65(1) and (2), 67(1) and 110(2) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1995(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Goods Vehicles (Testing) (Amendment) (Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1999 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1999.

Amendment of the Goods Vehicles (Testing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995

2.  For Part I of Schedule 1(2) (fees) to the Goods Vehicles (Testing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995(3) there shall be substituted—

“Part I Fee Payable on Application under regulation 10(2), 13(3) or 17(4)

3,500 kilograms maximum gross weight or under	£17.00
Over 3,500 kilograms maximum gross weight— (i) 2 axle rigid vehicle	£25.00
(ii) 3 axle rigid vehicle	£30.00
(iii) 4 axle rigid vehicle	£32.50
(iv) articulated vehicle having a 2 axle drawing vehicle	£27.50
(v) articulated vehicle having a 3 axle drawing vehicle	£32.50
Trailer	£22.00”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations.)

These Regulations further amend the Goods Vehicles (Testing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1995. Vehicles exceeding 3,500 kilograms maximum gross weight are now divided into 5 categories (previously 3 categories). The fee payable on application for a first test, a periodical test, a re-test or an appeal is reduced as follows—

(a) for a 2 axle rigid vehicle from £28.00 to £25.00; and

(b) for an articulated vehicle having a 2 axle drawing vehicle from £32.50 to £27.50.

The fee for a 3 axle rigid vehicle remains unchanged at £30.00 and the fee for a 4 axle rigid vehicle and an articulated vehicle having a 3 axle drawing vehicle remains unchanged at £32.50.

The fee for a trailer remains unchanged at £22.00.

The fee payable for a first test, a periodical test, a re-test or an appeal for a vehicle of 3,500 kilograms maximum gross weight or under is reduced from £17.50 to £17.00.
