Temporary Speed Limit (Lisnevenagh Road, Route A26, Kells) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997

WHEREAS the Department of the Environment is satisfied that it is desirable in the interests of safety to restrict the speed of motor vehicles on part of Lisnevenagh Road, Route A26, Kells;

AND WHEREAS the Department has published notice of its intention in compliance with Article 51(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981(1);

NOW THEREFORE the Department, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 51(1) of the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Temporary Speed Limit (Lisnevenagh Road, Route A26, Kells) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997 and shall come into operation on 1st March 1997.

Application and duration of speed limit

2.  The driving of motor vehicles at a speed greater than 40 miles per hour on Lisnevenagh Road, Route A26, Kells, from its junction with Oldwood Road, to its junction with Valley Road, is prohibited for a period of 4 months from 28th February 1997.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order.)

This Order prohibits in the interests of safety the driving of motor vehicles at more than 40 miles per hour on Lisnevenagh Road, Route A26, Kells, from its junction with Oldwood Road, to its junction with Valley Road, for a period of 4 months commencing on 1st March 1997.

Any person who contravenes the Order shall be guilty of an offence under the Road Traffic (Northern Ireland) Order 1981 and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale (£1,000).

Traffic signs indicating the effect of the Order will be erected on the roads in due course.
