The Department of Economic Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by paragraphs 6(1) and (2) of Part 2 of Schedule 2 to the Industrial Tribunals (Northern Ireland) Order 1996(1) and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Industrial Tribunals (1996 Order) (Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 1997.
2. The day appointed as that from which the Industrial Tribunals (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 has effect with the inclusion of Article 14 is the day after the day on which this Order is made.

This Order provides for the coming into operation of Article 14 of the Industrial Tribunals (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 (“the 1996 Order”) on the day after the Order is made.
Article 14 of the 1996 Order relates to offences for breaching orders made by industrial tribunals restricting publicity in disability discrimination cases, and was contained in section 62 of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (c. 50) (“the 1995 Act”) before being consolidated in Article 14 of the 1996 Order. The 1996 Order came into operation on 24th September 1996 repealing Section 62 of the 1995 Act before it had been commenced.
Paragraphs 6(1) and (2) of Part II of Schedule 2 to the 1996 Order have the effect that in these circumstances the 1996 Order has effect with the omission of Article 14 until such day as the Department may appoint by order
