An Act to extend the maximum period for which an acting Assembly Ombudsman for Northern Ireland and an acting Northern Ireland Commissioner for Complaints may hold office.

BE IT ENACTED by being passed by the Northern Ireland Assembly and assented to by Her Majesty as follows:
1.—(1) In Article 6(2)(a) of the Ombudsman (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 (maximum period for which acting Ombudsman may hold office) for “12 months” substitute “24 months”.
(2) In Article 5(2)(a) of the Commissioner for Complaints (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 (maximum period for which acting Commissioner may hold office) for “12 months” substitute “24 months”.
2. The amendments made by section1 are to be regarded as having come into operation on 30 August 2014.
3.—(1) This Act comes into operation on the day after it receives Royal Assent.
(2) This Act may be cited as the Ombudsman and Commissioner for Complaints (Amendment) Act (Northern Ireland) 2015.
