Subsection (1) sets out the provisions of the Act that will commence on Royal Assent.
Subsections (2) and (3) set out the provisions of the Act that will, for certain purposes, commence on Royal Assent.
Subsection (4) sets out that the remaining provisions will come into force on the day or days appointed by regulations, and different days may be appointed for different purposes.
Subsection (5) establishes that the short title of the Act is the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018.
