Section 24: Extent
- This section provides that the Act extends to the legal jurisdictions of England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, except that any repeal or amendment of an enactment has the same extent as the enactment being amended or repealed.
- The Act repeals some Acts that extend beyond the UK. The ECA has limited application to Gibraltar and the Crown Dependencies so its repeal in section 1 will also extend to them. The European Union Act 2011, the European Parliamentary Elections Act 2002 and the European Parliament (Representation) Act 2003 also extend to Gibraltar. These Acts will be repealed in respect of Gibraltar as well as the UK, and the powers in sections 8 and 23 will be capable of making provision for Gibraltar in relation to European Parliamentary Elections and connected matters.
