EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations revoke and replace the Wireless Telegraphy (Register) Regulations 2004 (S.I. 2004/3155, as amended by S.I.s 2006/340, 2006/1808, 2007/381, 2007/3389, 2008/689, 2008/2104, 2008/3193, 2009/14, 2011/439, 2011/1508 and 2011/2756).

These Regulations provide for the Office of Communications (“OFCOM”) to establish and maintain a wireless telegraphy register, and provide the information that is relevant for this purpose. Regulation 3 of these Regulations provides that OFCOM shall establish and maintain a register of relevant information, and regulation 4 and Schedule 2 to these Regulations prescribe the relevant information.

A full regulatory impact assessment of the effect that these Regulations will have on the costs to business is available to the public from the OFCOM Library at Riverside House, 2A Southwark Bridge Road, London SE1 9HA (Tel: 020 7981 3000) and on OFCOM’s website at www.ofcom.org.uk.
