The Welsh Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 146(4)(b) of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014(1) (“the 2014 Act”), make the following Order.
The Welsh Minsters, as required by section 146(1) of the 2014 Act have consulted such persons as they think fit on a draft of the revised code.
In accordance with section 146(2) of the 2014 Act, a draft of the revised code was laid before the National Assembly for Wales for 40 days.
1.—(1) The title of this Order is the Revised Code of Practice on the exercise of social services functions in relation to Part 10 (Advocacy) of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 (Appointed Day) (Wales) Order 2019.
(2) In this Order, “the Revised Part 10 Code” means the Code of Practice on the exercise of social services functions in relation to Part 10 (Advocacy) of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014, a draft of which was laid before the National Assembly for Wales on 6 November 2019 and issued by the Welsh Ministers on 17 December 2019.
2. The day appointed for the coming into force of the Revised Part 10 Code is 1 January 2020.

This Order appoints 1 January 2020 as the day on which the revised Code of Practice on the exercise of social services functions in relation to Part 10 (Advocacy) of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 comes into force (“the revised Code”).
The revised Code is issued by the Welsh Ministers under section 145(1) of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 (“the 2014 Act”).
Section 145(3) of the 2014 Act requires local authorities to act in accordance with any relevant requirements contained in a code issued under section 145(1) and to have regard to any relevant guidelines contained in it.
The revised Code replaces an earlier code issued in April 2016.
The revised Code can be accessed on the internet at www.wales.gov.uk.
